Those are some lovely cards. I'm still hoping someone with a little more computer savvy than me comes up with a dedicated card making program for grunts, maybe something like this: www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=25594It's probably the only way I'll get me some halfway decent looking cards

Very nice looking cards. My colonial "East Hyadum Trading Company" forces are being painted. They are based on some GZG NAC, so rather than Pith helmets they will have modern helmets but still in the red and white scheme. I will share details when complete.

Lots! Peter Pig, Old Glory, Irregular Miniatures, Rebel Minis, Minifigs, Battleline Miniatures, Blue Moon Manufacturing, Essex... For these Brits I am using Sudan range minis from Peter Pig (I am gonna sculpt grenadier hats on ordinary rifelman helmets) I post my progress on my blog 15mmworld.blogspot.com/

Gahh! You're killing me, fjodin! I don't have time or money to get into colonial minis in 15mm. Why must you tempt me so?

For my Colonials I'll stick with shot of 4 for regulars with rifles, because old rifles dont have firepower of modern assault rifles with automatic fire ability.
So if you want to represent difference between bolt action rifle and assault rifle, just use Shoot5 for assault rifle and Shot4 for Bolt action rifle. Same range, same damage, but you have more chances to hit enemy with assault rifle because of its rapid fire.

That is a simple way to justify the difference in technology--what a great idea!

I remade all cards! Now they share same logic as all of my cards.
All regular troops are veterans. If they are modern/sci-fi troops and not trained well for bayonet fighting, they have Assault4 (comparing to Shoot5). If they are trained for bayonet fighting, they have Assault5. Difference between Assault and bolt single shot/bolt action rifles was described above. So now you can mix models armed with modern and antique weapons on battlefield without problem!

Just wanted to say I like these cards and will be joining you in doing VSF with Gruntz15mm.
I'm going to be starting with a Stargate:1889 type world, where during the Russo-Turkish War, Russia uncovered a gate to another world. Unfortunately for both Russia and the Ottoman Empire, this brought in other powers into the war and Anatolia has been carved up around the gate. Eventually a treaty was signed allowing access to all nations to the gate.
Inside the gate is a world filled with dinosaurs and ancient human civilizations. They have strange alien technology they barely understand alongside what muskets and rifles they've been able to get from 20+ years of colonial contact. Some of the Earth nations have been able to get some of the alien tech as well. And now the Russians and Turks are at it again, starting up a war over land and archaeological sites in the alien world.

Sounds very interesting! But please bear in mind that I plan to make HUGE changes of these cards after Gruntz V1.1 WIth new variable squad sizes, each line infantry unit will be 8 models (most manufacturers of 18,19 century models have packs of 8 infantry). One of these models is NCO (like squad leader in Gruntz. Just take 1 rifleman and paint sergeant stripes on a sleeve). But you can buy additional figs for unit: officer, banner, musician. Officer is a specialist figure with several Wounds. If officer is attached to a unit, he become a unit leader and commander radius should be measured from officer. If officer is killed, unit nco is now in charge. If your unit have an officer, that means you can buy banner and musician for unit. Banner ads +1 to Morale and musician bonus is still under construction New v1.1 line infantry will still have ability that second rank can fire and attack with bayonet through first rank. So you can use close packed formations or skirmish formation if under artillery fire. I made a HUGE list of ancient weapons, like bows, muskets, slings and even pikes! So you can make a pike units like in renaissance era! Pikes are really cool in melee. You can place your pikemen in 3 ranks where 2 and 3 rank can attack through front rank, so if you have 9 men unit, you can make a 3 rank pike block. That means that each front rank pikemen will be supported by 2 figures from 2 and 3 rank and he will have not 2d6 but 3 2d6! BUT pike units CANT run. They are very slow and have only 4 inch move (6 for assault), so they are vulnerable to musket and artillery. I also have ideas of non sci-fi armor. Like Gothic Knight in plate armor have Soak of 14, BUT if he is under fire of gunpoeder or energy weapon, he will only have Soak of 11. But if he is attacked with bow or melee weapon, his Soak is 14. Also dismounted knight cant run.

I want to give Gruntz ability to combine sci-fi, 18-19 century and even medieval units.
For example if you want to game Stargate where humans with modern weapon fight Ori, Jaffa, Wraith with energy weapon on medieval planet.
