New assault rules are getting a public outing on Saturday at Salute in full laminated hand-out glory. Hopefully they will be received well (I think they feel Grunty enough). It is very likely that I will share them here after the Salute outing and face the onslaught of reaction from players. I think I might need a mental check first . Without going into super detail, they are designed to be paired down, simple to learn and deadly. I have tried to keep them simple and elegant ( No book referencing after a couple of play throughs). l hope they represent a hard battlefield environment in an abstract way. I will share on the forum after the weekend and take some feedback before they take a final place in the rules. They won't please everyone but I think they work with a Gruntz feel. You should also be able to play them immediately.

I suspect I'm in the "won't please everyone" category after our previous discussuins on Assault, but I had a look at the rules on Saturday at Salute (I swung by the tables a couple of times but each time you were deep in discussion so I didn't interrupt) and they are certainly an improvement. STill not where I think they should be, but much better, and the presentation is, as usual, top notch. I'll happily offer up my alternative assault rules if you want to put them into the optional rules?

You alternative option would certainly be welcome! I can't even remember seeing you, but maybe I did... It was a busy time and I wish I had given myself longer to explore the show.

Just as a quick update. I will be sharing the advanced Assault rules with a link to a PDF download. Just before I share them I want to take a short video of the assault. It really is very simple with a free react action from the defenders making suppression and the quality of a squads Mental statistic important. I am really fired up after Salute, so I am hoping to get my energy levels up to demo the Assault rules tonight in a video.

OK. My PC is in with the Jawas with a blown CPU ("this R2 unit has a bad motivator!") but I should have it back in the next couple of days. I'll forward the rules over then.
