21st April 2012 is the next official convention where Gruntz will be in attendance.
I was planning to build or cobble together 2 or 3 terrain boards in 3x3 size for small skirmish games but only if enough commitment from players would fill them. The alternative is one larger board with a single game which people can join for about an hours game.
I prefer the idea of doing the smaller boards because a few small games could take place and be straight into the action.
Are there any members willing to help out and take part with participation games? If so I can offer a limited number of free passes to the show for helpers.

Hi Robin you can count the three of us in (Abby, me and a third yet to be named).
Abby may not be able to give the demo game her full attention though, as the third will only be two months old by this time.

Thanks Matthew, I will reserve a slot for you.
So far thoughts on the x3 terrain boards are:
1/ Desert theme with traditional military engament. Tanks/Mecha's/Drop Ships. 2/ Bombed out city or highway - Post Apoc type game. 3/ Alien Assault type layout. Troops against bugs type game.
The idea being that the three themes show a different style of game with longer range and close assault games.

Hi Robin I know you have a lot of figures like we all do but would you want a list of what people can bring to the show to help you so you can concentrate more on the boards? Or possibly supply a list to the relevant people so we can start to assemble and paint the figures required? For instance I have those Pendraken Aliens to paint up and dare I say It my large pound store bugs (which would could be modded slightly and a painted as well, I am not just going to leave them bright gold honest!) What do you think sir?

Well I might attend hammerhead, I am not yet booked in. It was a little quiet for me last year, only managed players for 1 game and then got kids dumped on me, who used the table for "lunch time" sandwiches. Not sure I want the 3.5hr drive again to entertain someones kids...

Sorry to hear that Robin. I will be going, barring acts of God, but as I am already convinced on Gruntz, I'm probably not your target audience! As for the kids, I would have a strict no under 12's without parents rule, and a no food on the playing area, for anyone rule. That is so rude!
Anyway, if you are there I'll stop by for a chat, and a game.

I am being a bit cynical I think, I don't mind entertaining younger players that want to learn the rules. I think the fact that these were probably 7/8 years old made it a bit difficult. It is amazing how many participation games I have completed were a parent (typically male) just swings by and drops the kids off with no intention of taking an interest themselves. It is also difficult on knowing how to reprimand someones kids for taking out a sandwich on your games table, they looked starving and with no parent in view do I just tell them to get lost..
If I get up to it I will pop buy. What was the date again?

February 12th I'll look forward to seeing you there again, or at Salute, if you can't make it.
