It looks good accept the chaps inside the suits doing the punch actions and then running? It cheapened it a bit and made it feel more fun than advanced technical robot mecha. I will reserve judgement until I see it but would have preferred the money spent on filming the characters running in suits and the CGI being spent on outside action. I can see the various cut scenes already where it flips between a man in the head throwing a punch and then the actual robot doing the same.
A shame they felt they had to show the human involvement in so much detail, perhaps they felt we would not engage as much if it was just a mind or joystick controlled robot?

I honestly feel that they took some mechanics for robot movement from Robo Jox. The fist system seems a direct cross over, even the fist-to-palm is the same as Achilles, and the walking thing seems like an evolved more believable version of what was presented in Robo Jox.

I would've preferred to see the pilot of these Mechs piloting it in a similar fashion to how Mechs are piloted in Battletech. I guess, as has been suggested already, having the pilot performing all the movements that the Mech is, and seeing him doing that on screen, somehow allows the audience to feel like the Mech pilot is somehow more invested or more involved in the personal combat and operation of the Mech...I don't see it that way myself, but I'm sure that is what the script writers/directing thinks.
I think it'll be a fun movie...with backing and director it has, I'm sure it will be watchable....

For some bizzare reason I've just been reminded of that kids show half live action/half CGI called Hypernauts. That had Mechs in it and they were piloted more like Battlemechs...
