For those of you that haven't heard, LucasFilm was bought out by Disney. Within seemingly hours, Disney announced the launch of Star Wars Ep. 7 by 2015.
Though I have had my reservations, if they put half the love they put in to the Pirates series into Star Wars, I will very much enjoy the experience. And, of course, I will be going to the midnight screening, (provided we're all not dead do to some 2012 conspiracy)

Yeah I saw this, this morning. Not only LucasFilm but also a number of other linked companies owned by Lucas too. It's a pretty Epic buy out, that's for sure. The price tag even more Epic!!!!

I wonder what it will mean for the various gaming franchises like the new Star Wars X-wing game. We might see them piloted by Mickey Mouse.

I think the other question is what happens with the comics license? With Disney also owning Marvel I can't imagine them leaving such a profitable property with Dark Horse. Especially as Star Wars comics are basically a license to print money.

Look for terrible casting decisions on the part of Disney (I hope not, it's hard to remain optimistic). And Lucas has already has the three next stories written for the movies after Return of the Jedi. These movies could turn out to be 3D special effects wonders without any real substance to the story. I hope not, I plan on seeing them unless they look like absolute crap.

The only reason there aren't any more X-Wing games (which were amazing in every sense of the word) is because Rebellion, the studio that developed the titles, went bankrupt. I do hope for some new Star Wars fighter game titles.

After the ewoks, Jar-jar and the whole 'Greedo shot first' thing, there is nowhere to go but up (and a loooong way at that) with the franchise. Disney can't screw it up any worse now.
