So, it's a boring ____day night, what non-Gruntz games are you most likely to be playing with your friends?
Here's my list (by order of most likely first):

Most of my really close friends aren't gamers. About the closest we get to a game is role playing. Just classic, over-chat, roleplaying, no dice, books or rules, just our imaginations.

I played League of Legends for a while but kept getting abused by people called me a Noob and many other nasty attacks which could get pretty bizarre, as if the people at the other end are somehow degraded evil beasts themselves. League of Legends is the place to be if you like getting abused! Because of the abuse I would often quit games which has made it impossible to join ranked games anymore because my ratio of quit games to real ones is to high. I don't think I have loaded it for about 7 Months now. For a while it was fun trying to master the various characters.
TF2 is also a regular but mostly for my Son Oscar - he is into all the trading and crafting type options in TF2 and is much better than me.
The other recent plays are Dishonoured which is a brilliant game and Borderlands 2 which is fun with the various weapon upgrades. Dishonoured is one of the nicest looking game environments I have played in for a while with stunning steam punk city scenes. The choice to complete all the action using stealth and sleep bolts is interesting, I will probably play it through again but trying not to kill people.
The game I played a lot of this year was Battlefield 3 on the Ps3. I have Xbox360 and Ps3 but tend to focus on the Ps3 and buy new releases for it.
This is a list of other games played over the years. Only a list from memory of what I have in the collection, so there are many more to add.
Space Hulk first edition - all the modules, card stock floor tiles etc. Space Hulk - new version Carcassonne and lots of expansions. GOA Savage Worlds RPG and Miniature Skirmish Settlers of Catan - Great inspiration for rules writers, especially the 2d6 dice mechanism. Zooloretto Niagra Peurto Rico Stone Age Ticket to Ride Eclipse Vampire the eternal struggle CCG - 1st edition have not played it for 18 years… Magic the Gathering - 1st edition. Just sold my original sets off this last year. Did not play it for 19 years, so it was time to get rid of the old cards. D&D 1st Edition D&D 2nd Edition D&D 3rd and 3.5 and 4th. Pathfinder - D&D D20 spin off which works. Spirit Walker - A card based RPG. Amber - A diceless rpg game. Hero System A ton of Faerun setting RPG material for D20 Traveller - Many different early versions and updates, adventures etc. Star Wars - The first D20 version and earlier non D20 versions. Palladium Games - Mix of early D&D type spin offs they did. Harnmaster - RPG game Bloodlust - A little known but amazing spin-off of Harnmaster which was for very small skirmishes of 4-8 fantasy models with great detail in combat actions. Pendragon - I have everything Chaosium did for Pendragon. Had some epic RPG games as knights and celts. Cthulhy - Lots Runequest - Version one from my early 1980's RPG days and a mix of the stuff re-released by Games Workshop. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - The first edition with the Stormbringer - Most of the early RPG material ICE - Rolemaster and a stack of the MERP (Middle Earth stuff). Mostly sold all the modules when LOTR was first released as a movie. Gurps - Many different versions and modules. Full Thrust Dirtside II Aeronef Wings of War Battletech - Tons of rule books, versions, maps, play sheets. Going right back to early roots of gaming. Warhammer - 1st edition ,2nd edition and one more recent version 4 I think. Not kept up with the latest releases. WH 40K - Rogue Trader version and the most recent one which I like the look of. Two Hour Wargames - The various games they offer as PDF download. DBM - Historical classical war-game. Hordes of the Things. My favourite 15mm fantasy battle game. Song of Blades and Heroes - A skirmish game for 15mm or 28mm fantasy that feels a lot like it was inspired by Hordes of the Things. Future War Commander Twilight - Alternative Fantasy war-game with unique models and an interesting turn and action system using runestones. Bushido - Fantasy war-game with oriental models Tunnels and Trolls - Early D&D variant. Labyrinth Lord - Great retro D&D gaming version with a simple set of rules and classic character creation process. Epic GW - The newer version of the rules, I was not a fan of the original version. Citadels - Nice card game with cool French medieval style fantasy artwork.
I basically like to collect, play and read lots of different rules. Battletech and D&D were a big part of my 80's,90's and early 2000's. I play lots of board games and love the German or euro games which are often trade based and nothing to do with Fantasy or SCI-FI but are still excellent fun to play. I don't actively role-play currently with only 1 or 2 games a year but for years in the 90's early 2000's I would role-play every week. I was also a member of the Crawley Wargames Club for about 10 years and basically played a game every week, mostly historical. Most of these games I can't even remember from obscure Napoleonic games throughout to 1/3000th scale gun boats in the pacific.

At the moment our group generally play: RPGs: Home grown rules Cthulhuy stuff, Dark Heresy, WFRP (among all sorts of others). Wargames: 40k 6th ed (lots of), Blood Bowl, Tomorrow's War. RuneCaster_Aris: I highly recommend Blood Bowl. As silly as the concept is, it is surprising tactical and engrossing.

mango: How is Blood Bowl? I've heard a lot of mixxed review from fans and non-fans of GW alike. Talking about the tabletop game. Blood Bowl is a great game, the best things to me are: 1 - no rule arguments - the rules are clear and concise 2 - no measurement arguments - its played on squares, you just count them so no stretchy tape measure 3 - rules are quite simple but there is a depth to them that opens up alot of tactics and variations of playstyles 4 - generally balanced - the teams are reasonably balanced with some slight differences between what is considered tier 1 and tier 2 teams. there are also some more fun teams (tier3 like goblins, halflings) which arnt generally competative but are fun to play. 5 - Price - 12 models is a team, add a board, some dice and a template or 2 and thats it. Entry cost can easily be under $100. Rules are a free pdf from GW 6 - Range of models. Alot of companies in recent years have sprung up to replace the non existant GW support so there are alot of fantasy models out there these days. Overall Blood Bowl is the most 'perfect' game I have come across, I dont agree 100% with some of the directions it has gone in some of the rules but I understand the reasons for them. 7 - Very portable - no terrain, no big 6x4 or 4x4 required, just lay your board/mat on a tabletop and you are ready to go. Its a great game

There are 2 new things that have come about to stop harassment: Honor, and The Gentlemen's Club. Honor is the opposite of "reporting", you can reward players for being good (Teamwork/friendly/helpful) or you can honor an opponent for being honorable themselves. The GC is a user created group, once you hit summoner level 30, you can sign up to their branch server. They are very strict about the "Good luck, have fun" thing. Both these have really, REALLY changed the atmosphere of the game. Might want to try it out again.

Like all of you I play various games but the one I'm into at the moment is Alkemy and I recomend it highly! Its quite simple and cheap if you shop around. It's from a company that went out of buisness so the models are cheap but it remains a serious venture and because of it's following remains constantly updated. So that I dont take up to much space chating about it on the forum visit my blog where I've explained allready: ollieswargaming.blogspot.fr/2012/10/ive-only-played-alkemy-once-with-my.htmlOr there is an english section in the French forum at: alkemy.webkido.com/index.php?board=23.0Plus the rules are free !
