I'm Going to try out an option for variable movement types for gruntz squads. The one that most interests me is to makes a gruntz squads into fliers. This would give the unit a move of 8 or 10 & allow them to ignore terrain up to 4" tall just like a Grav Vehicle. It will also allow you to field units of drones or fliers for 2 or 3 points extra per squad or 1 point per model in the Squad. Note that the unit can not have squad attachment. I got thinking when I started my Hive Mind army based on the Zerg from Star Craft & I have lots of winged fliers & don't see all of them as 4 wound models so I can't justify making the Specialist, also this wold allow units of combat drone that are small & expendable.

This is something I've thought about myself. I think it'd add more depth to the game if there was some variability in the movement of Gruntz models. I think 4" movement fits the bulk of infantry, but what about infantry that run on all four legs? I couldn't really give any movement numbers or the points having such a movement advantage might cost though.
To be honest, I'm not sure if Gruntz are meant to be a squad of infantry on bikes or any similar mode of individual transportation, but I do feel that there should be some sort of "group" that allows us to have units of bikes, cavalry, or what have you. Having a clump of specialists acting as a group is alright... unless you use alternating activation...
Also, I'm not sure if a mere 2-3 points per UNIT of Grav-Bike Gruntz is enough. I don't currently have access to the rule book, but I think Grav movement costs at LEAST 5 points. So, I think something closer to 5, or even more points per model would be best. That all said, I don't really think Gruntz should be on Grav-bikes, I feel that's in the realm of specialists.

I was playing around with the Gruntzomatic & a specialist cost 1 additional point to gain grav movement & has minimum of 4 wounds yes they cost more base point. I feel 1 point per model is reasonable as each model only has 1 wound.

I will have to increase the points of this in my house rules since Points system changes that seem to be coming with Gruntz 1.1 I'm thinking around 2 or 3 point per model since they only have 1 wound each instead of 4 minimum for specialist. Or of making it a 5 or 6 point perk of flight giving a gruntz squad hover movement.
