I was so excited because Barracks and V1.1 Gruntz allows us to have squads from 4 and up to 10 models with Squad attachments, so I decide to paint some 15mm Peter Pig modern US soldiers as an abstract SG Team from Stargate SG-1 series. I decided to have several SG Teams. First one have green uniform with dark grey ammunition and bullet proof vest and green helmet. Second team will have same colours but wear dark grey helmet (like in the series) and third team will be painted in desert khaki. Sadly Peter Pig dont make these figures with MP5 or P90. They look amazing as usual! Will have to have a chat again soon about the early colonial setup. I did purchase a stack of mini's from Peter Pig for colonial gaming, including some field guns.

COOL! I have losts of ideas abot colonial variant and how to integrate all these low tech units and weapons (like bows, muskets and bolt action rifles) into original sci-fi Gruntz variant. For some of these ideas I wait for v.1.1 to use the power of new updated game engine. I also have lots of ideas how to use colonial variant for ancients-medieval times. But for gaming pre gunpowder games player should use different stats for Soak. For example in pre-gunpowder era Gothic Knight in plate armor may have Soak of 14, but if you play Renaissanse, Colonial or Sci-Fi setting, where bullet can penetrate armor, armored units should have Soak of 12 (or 11 for more realism) like these Rebel Minis marines. I will write a description of armor from 10 to 14 for pre and post gunpowder era. But MEGA thanx for ability to use units from 4 to 10 men! The matter is most of manufaturers of ancient, medieval, colonial miniatures pack 8 riflemans in 1 pack and they also have command pack of officers, flags, drummers. So it is reasonable to use unit size of 8 rifles, swords, spears (just 1 pack to buy. One miniature should be unit leader. Maybe with sergeant stripes). BUT if you want upgrade this unit, you can add command group of officer, drummer and musician. Command group is a human specialist with very usefull bonus. It adds +1 Mental to attached unit. Also if you attached command group to unit, the command radius should be measured not from sergeant, but from officer, who now in charge. If someone kill the officer (he have several damage points, but its better to place him behind firing line), sergeant are now in charge. Now about basing. You can base 3 command group models (Officer, musician, flag bearer) on 1 base for ease of movement or on 3 separate bases. If you use separate bases for command group, that means for gaming purpose if you want to use rifle unit to snipe commander, you should fire at officer model, and drummer adn flag bearer models are just for aestetical purposes and can be placed anywhere near unit. They can't be targeted. And command radius is measured from officer, not from drummer, and flag bearer (just imagine that these models dont exist) Also in late colonial era and early 20 century some countries stoped use of drummers and flag bearers, but officers are still on the field leading units. So for more modern periods you should use just officer model, and do not bother about flag bearer and musician. For example Peter Pig dont have any flag bearer for WW1.
