Wow... that's a beast!
Where did you order that from? And it looks great, I can definitely see it being a centerpiece to an army!
I know i'd hate to engage it... I'd be calling down orbital bombardment!

Thanks guys. I had it made myself. A dude sculpted it in 3D for me and I then had it printed out, moulded and cast up in resin. That's just the basic fit out. I'm going to assemble another one and paint it soon-ish and I'll use magnets on that one so I can swap around the different weapons it has...

That's awesome... do you plan on casting them up and selling them?

That is one great looking mech! It is a bit big for my tastes but other than that it looks almost exactely like I imagine a heavy mech should look. Kudos to your friends 3D modeling skills.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I do plan on selling casts to those who would like one. I'll put a sale thread up in the trade section of the forum either tonight or tomorrow. In the mean time, I'm thinking of putting together a stat card for it but not 100% sure where to go with it. My idea is that it is an Assault class Mech, but that is about as far as I have gotten with it. I can change the weapons around a bit. The weapons in the pic of my completed one could be lasers or plasma cannons or the like. The other weapons are a huge rotary cannon and a more boxy looking weapon that could be anything really but to me it looks like a rail gun or the like. The smaller anti infantry weapons mounted on the body around the waist are either lasers or gatling guns. The shoulder mounted missile launchers are optional, in that they can be left off...I suppose they could serve as either large missiles or more of a smaller specialised missile...or even could be more like rocket pods... The pics below show all the pieces. Anyone got any suggestions for cards for this or some cool weapon load out/configurations?

I thought I'd update this thread with a couple of pics of where I'm at with this force. I have the highlighting and details to paint on one of the smaller Mechs you can see in the pic (the left one), and then I have to build and paint a dropship, the pieces for which I already have ready to go...and I will also paint some of the drop pods that Harold is selling. So I am not too far off finishing this force.

I of course still have the master here and will one day have another mould made and will likely get 25-30 casts out of it. Not sure when I will do this though, probably next year sometime.

I'm thinking of doing something similar. What 3D modeling software did your friend use? I have some training in CAD and I might give it a go if I can find a free or cheap CAD software that is compatible with Shapeways.

The software the dude used is Wings 3D, which is free to download and use. www.wings3d.com/I have had stuff printed at Shapeways several times, and they do a decent job depending on how smooth you want the print and what material you use etc. The cockpit of the smaller Mech that you can see in the previous pages of this thread was printed at Shapeways. However, for something like this large Mech, unless I was prepared to put in an incredible amount of time in cleaning up the print lines, Shapeways was not a real good choice. A printer with much better capabilities (i.e. less print lines) was preferable. So I went with a dude in the US and he was excellent to deal with. visionproto.com/
