I could not find the original topic where it was mentioned but things are now actually starting to happen with the builder.
I am going to run this as an official Kickstarter project and I am just now going through the process of working with someone in the US to setup the project.
The aim will be to set a target which players can fund to cover the development cost of the Army builder. Building units for Gruntz is a fundamental part of the game, so I want the builder to work well and be a practical way of easily making cards and eventually sharing the designs etc. It will work on Mac and PC.
For those not aware of Kickstarter, it is a way to fund a project where you can pledge some dollars. If you pledge a certain amount you will also get a copy of the builder when it is released (at no extra cost). When the pledge reaches a target level (hopefully within 1 Month) the project is started for real and I use the collected funds to pay for the professional development costs.
You can also pledge small amounts like $1 just to help support the project and I am thinking up some larger pledge levels where you might get a printed copy of the rules + the army builder download. I might also potentially offer some painted units for larger pledges but I have yet to confirm the pledge levels.
I will provide full details of who I am teaming up with on the builder and share the link and details when the kick starter project is setup (hopefully in April).
I will not lock down any independent development efforts. So if you have a project running yourself you are still welcome to share the results of any open source builder you create for Gruntz and drop me a private message if you would like to use the newer 1.1. stats, they are almost complete.
Thanks,
Robin
