I've been reading section about woods on page 11 and have some questions about infantry units in woods.
Rules says that if gruntz are in forest they gave +1 to Guard and 5 inch LOS. If they are in forest but at the edge they have +1 for guard but no 5 inch LOS.
SO my question is: if I have tank and want to fire at enemy gruntz unit in forest (2 inch into wood), can I fire? Do I have LOS? How deep gruntz should be in forest to become invisible?

But can Gruntz unit located 2 inch in the forest fire back at tank? They not at the edge of wood, so they have only 5 inch LOS, and tank is 9 inch from them. Does that mean that Tank just fire at fores, and hope to hit them (they have +1 to Guard), and gruntz cants see the tank and cant fire back?

If they are not at the edge of the forest/bush they will be firing through/around scrub and therefore the target will receive a +1 to guard for soft cover granted by the foliage.

If they are not at the edge of the forest/bush they will be firing through/around scrub and therefore the target will receive a +1 to guard for soft cover granted by the foliage. However in forest 5inches is basically your max range (Both targets in forest). Since there are no complex calculations with regard to the reduction in overall LOS whilst in forest, you would just calculate the full range between the Gruntz in the forest and the tank. Just make sure they don't have more than a total of 5inches of forest between them.

So Enemy can fire at them (but with -1 penalty), and unit in wood (in not at 1 inch from edge), cant fire, because foliage block the view and wnits from outside the wood make somekind of indirect fire? If unit in wood have enemy in the open but at 5 inch range of wood, it can fire.

No, both the unit in the wood and the unit outside the wood can shoot at the other, as long as the LOS between them, does not cross more than 5" of wood, and both units would benefit from the effects of cover. The inches outside the wood are ignored for LOS.

Ok, I am confused. If a unit is in the woods firing out at a target, does the target have to be no more than 5 inches away from the firing unit. And if that is so, does it mean it is reciprocal.

LOS through wood is 5" in total so you have two woods one is 2" across the other is 2.5" and your target is just behind that and is in your normal range your target gets +1 gaurd. I personally add an addition +1 per wood ala Battletech but that's just me personally not the main rules.
