Just ordered some 1960-1900 era 15mm figures to use them for Victorian Science Fiction/Colonial with Gruntz rules. I tried GASLIGHT but I love GRUNTZ more and its unit builder
Whle I am waiting for my minis to arrive, I'll post my idea about how represent 19 century units. Stat cards will be soon. I tried to do not change the rules while making these units. Only minor change is Line Infantry perk.
British infantry///10 man unit
Shoot: Seasoned 4
Assault: Seasoned 4
Guard: Medium 12
Soak: None 10
Mental: Seasoned 6
Skill: Seasoned 4
Perk: Line Infantry (renamed Swarm)
Weapon: Martini-Henry rifle (represented as Assault Rifle)
Bayonet: Basic from rules with Damage 6
This is standart infantrymen. All stats are Seasoned. If company stationary it'll get +1 to shoot. All soldiers armed with Bayoneted rifle and trained for bayonet fight will have seasoned for Assault, and units such as Jagers and other non melee soldier will have Trained for Assault.
Now about unit size. I think 10 man units from GASLIGHT are better for late 19 century than 6 man squads. So what to do? Just use Swarm Perk! Now you have 10 riflemans, and there are no squad attachments in 19 century. But to make my future unit cards look better, lets rename Swarm to Line Infantry
Now more units:
Highlanders///10 man unit
Shoot: Seasoned 4
Assault:Veteran 5
Guard: Medium 12
Soak: None 10
Mental: Veteran 7
Skill: Veteran 5
Perk: Line Infantry (renamed Swarm)
Weapon: Martini-Henry rifle (represented as Assault Rifle)
Bayonet: Basic from rules with Damage 6
RESTRICTION: Player can field only 2 higlander units.
Grenadier Guards///10 man unit. And you can field only 1 Guard unit on field
Shoot: Veteran 5
Assault:Expert 6
Guard: Medium 12
Soak: None 10
Mental: Expert 8
Skill: Expert 6
Perk: Line Infantry (renamed Swarm)
Weapon: Martini-Henry rifle (represented as Assault Rifle)
Bayonet: Basic from rules with Damage 6
RESTRICTION: Player can field only 1 grenadier guard unit.
95th Rifles///6 man unit
Shoot: Expert 6
Assault: Trained 3
Guard: Medium 12
Soak: None 10
Mental: Veteran 7
Skill: Veteran 5
Weapon: Martini-Henry rifle (represented as Assault Rifle)
Bayonet: Basic from rules with Damage 6
RESTRICTION: Player can field only 1 rifle unit.
Now you can see that line infantry units have 10 man and rifles have 6 man.
Redcoats are standart infantry with Seasoned skills.
Highlanders have better Assault, Skill and Mental.
Grenadier Guards have Experrt stats, but their shooting is Veteran, because they are better shooters but not as good as 95th Rifles
95th Rifles have Expert shootnig, Veteran for Skill and Mental but only Trained 3 for Melee and their squad size is only 6 man (see, everything according to rules)!
