Over the weekend I managed to paint my first squad for Gruntz - FSE Colonial Legionnaires from GZG. They're also my first painted figs of 2012. (Pretty sad I know, I must do a better job of organizing my time to get more done!) Overall, I am pretty pleased - a quick and dirty paint job that looks decent. I am also very happy with the way the colors blend well giving them a desert force theme. Here's a pic, and there are more details on my blog. Good Looking squad. I am planning on dong my Khurasan feds in a similar scheme when I get around to starting my forces.
I'm going to center my gaming and terrain around a mostly arid set of planets for my demo forces to fight over.

Good job.
My first stuff will be done next week. Maybe this weekend. I paint slow now. Because I hate painting now. GF is going to help out, but who knows when that will be.

Thanks guys - the next three squads are basecoated so I should be able to knock them out this weekend and have the beginnings of a decent Gruntz force.
I still need to get some more vehicles and mechs though. I haven't decided which model mechs to go with - there are several different ones that I like a lot, it's just a matter of keeping a consistent look. That, and being able to get them readily in the US without paying exorbitant overseas shipping costs...
More updates to follow.
