I thought I'd give the salt and hairspray weathering technique a try. By all accounts I head read, it was probably unsuitable for 15mm, but I like to prove things for myself. I think it turned out reasonably well, if a bit excessive. You can also weather without the salt, which I think looks a little better in 15mm scale, but I haven't put those pictures up yet. If you want to read about the whole procedure, or see more pictures of the same model from different angles, now you can.

Maybe you should try crushing the salt to even finer dust. It could make the effect a little less excessive. And I know it is extremely hard to do at this scale but but maybe try to stick mostly with edges of panels and anywhere where a normal car starts collecting rust. You might have to use a brush to apply the salt. Looks good like this too though. It almost looks like there's some algae growing on the model I'll be giving a go to AK interactive Worn Effects as a replacement for hair spray soon. I just received my ARC Fleet starter and they'll be my first victims.

Did you wash the salt off? It looks like you have left it on with all the chunky bits? I think that it looks a little bit to far gone but very realistic.
