rammng a battle suit

in our last game a battle suited specialist assaulted our tank. the rules state that we can withdraw in our activation and he gets a free attack. we went for the option of ramming it.
2 questions arse from this
1 can we ram at point blank?
2 being a battle suit it isnt a grunt, but there again its not classified as a vehicle either. which do we classify it???

I think I mention that you need a few inches for a Ram but if I didn't then I need to add it. In the new assault rules I have put info on Specialist Vs Vehicle to cover these details. Clearly a vehicle can' take a swipe at you if you back off but if it has an anti-infantry gun it might get a shot.
