I don't think I will be able to explain the miniature purchases to the wife any longer. For a long while I kept saying what really held me back from diving head first into 15mm Sci-fi was was a really awesome tracked IFV that wowed me. With this latest news from Khurasan miniatures; my silver bullet has just been fired. khurasanminiatures.blogspot.com/2011/12/federal-army-medium-tank-first-look.htmltheminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=253039I now have to perform some deep soul searching as I figure out what miniatures have to go to make room. Why or why did I get into 40K all those years ago. Robin, I blame you a little for this How can a poor miniature drunk stay clean by looking at video after video of all this really cool stuff. ;D

You are welcome to blame me . Those tanks look nice but very near future compared to some of the CMG and GZG stuff. Still very fine models though.

I too fell in love with those. I better hurry and get my armored cav order in for Combat Wombat and my support vehicles in from GZG, because after these are released I think those (and the APC that's going to go along with it) will be my new friends.

Is there a UK supplier? I am always nervous of getting hit with the VAT payment and the rediculous £9 to pay the VAT on your behalf charge. Same goes for rebel minis.

Nope nether I'm afraid Only way round is place a large order so that Post Office handling fee gets diluted a bit! Oh and to add insult to injury last November I think they changed it from £18 to £15 before tax and that includes postage BTW, and the handling charge went up from £8 to £9! God bless them! So on that note anyone want to do an order?

That APC is nice. Those Siler tanks they do are more like 20mm in scale but could be used as an assault tank.

I encountered a friend at the local game store that actually owns a Khurasan Siler.
He said he was disappointed in the Khurasan vehicles because they still had the serrations (SP>) in the models from the 3D process. I am referring to the groves of the 3D printing process. That sure what they are called in the business.
For him this turned him off from the line. Of course this would break my heart.
Does anyone here own a Siler, or the other Khurasan vehicles can can tell me how the models turn out.

Oh that's a worry I thought they got cleaned up before they got molded! May have to reconsider ....

That would be good I know that some of the models are a pain especially in high detail areas to clean up for the prints but if the main hull is like it then Mmmm..... No

I own several Khurasan and yes they do leave on all the rough serrations from the printing process. It makes getting a good airbrush or even a paint cover difficult. In contrast CMG spend several days on each model they have 3d printed, slowly sanding down all the serration's to make an end resin product which is smooth. To be honest the models still look good, even with the roughness but a little bit of effort in careful sanding before a master is made cast from would go a long way to creating a better product.

Thanks for the input Robin I know that may put me off a little but there are some real nice models coming up which I may still get Just more prepping time which could of been advoided if done before they were put in the mould! Oh well!

Prepping time is not going to happen Matt - it would take many many hours to take off the serrations. It is not something I would bother doing on a tank/apc sized vehicle in 15mm scale. You just have to go for it unless you want 4-10hrs of prep per model and then you risk removing detail unless you are very highly skilled modeller. The process of serration removal is something that takes care with multiple grades of very fine sandpaper and you risk smoothing sharp edges. I would just give them a very good primer spray and go for it. Here are a couple of images where you can see some of the roughness due to serrations. It is not a major problem really, but fussy modellers like me get annoyed by it. It certainly would not stop me buying the models and a have a largish range of Khurasan in my collection. I did struggle a bit on the Chewk cannon which was very rough, but the roughness was in keeping with the Chewk style of model. You can see the roughness on the armour plate on the front of the turret. I think the ridges on the "mud flaps" (for want of a better word) are part of the design - I think? It is arguably not something you need to worry about in 15mm. Once sprayed and painted/weathered you will be covering up most of it.
