Using these Skytrex scout tanks for vehicles to fit in with the GZG Alien Mercs range. I think the CD219 M8 HMC (75MM S.P. HOWITZER) would actually be a better model to convert for retro SCI-FI but the ones I purchased were a good start. They are all around the £6 each level and are all metal. This is the Howitzer version which I think would make a good retro conversion.

I was going to add that the key thing with Gruntz is that you could play a lower tech game with some lighter early vehicles like this and simply make them light our scout to factor the the small lightly armoured nature. I will be adding a couple of negative modz to cover the early tech with a Slow and Lightly Armoured and/or "soft top" option. Selecting a negative mod will lower Soak/Speed/Damage but lower the points cost for the specific class.
I keep an open mind on models like these in the picture because I love the way they look. I know they should really just be used in a WWII and post WWII setting but I think they are stunning little vehicles and if matched into an appropriate squad with some minor modifications they can look fun.

I actually prefer the first tanks you showed, the rivets and the conversions are just grand. The M8 just doesn't do it for me. Though I do like your thoughts on negative mods to alter stats and make retro tech possible.
Great job on the conversions.

Those look awesome man. I would also be very keen to see some rules for low tech as I am planning on making a SOTR themed gruntz force. Another good place for 15mm early tech tanks is theplasticsoldiercompany.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 They make snap-fit tanks and other vehicles and most come in variant boxed sets of 5 tanks for like 16 quid.
