I know some have discussed playing GRUNTZ with 28mm miniatures, which is a very cool idea, but I thought to myself, "wouldn't it be interesting to play these rules with 6mm minis?" So I've started working on conversion notes to do just that. I will post updates on my progress here and on both FIREBASE 6mike-mike and FIREBASE 15mike-mike. Here's the announcement on FIREBASE 6mike-mike: firebase6mikemike.blogspot.com/2011/11/converting-gruntz-15mm-for-use-with-6mm.htmlCheers, Spartan 117

What sort of basing would you use for 6mm single figures?
More importantly, which miniatures are you using so that you can tell figures apart from a reasonable distance?

Even at 10mm (using Heavy Gear and CAV miniatures) we decided to go with the group basing optional rules for Gruntz squads because moving those tiny figures individually is extremely tedious. And it speeds up play a good bit

I use 12mm counters that I purchased from Wargames Widows wargameswidows.co.uk/html/dice_and_sundries.htmlI use C-in-C's Solar Empire Marines for one force and GZG UNSC Marines in Hardsuits for the other For the time being I'm going with individually based infantry, but I'm sure I'll try playing with group basing some time in the future. Wow individual basing! I was actually thinking that at 6mm that the models would be in squads on a single base. GZG has some nice 6mm metal group bases. Or use 2pence pieces?
I think using single bases is a great idea though, especially for smaller scale games. It could really work and you could almost keep ranges the same because as the ranges in the 15mm gane which were deliberately shorter for vehicles to make it more of a fun game - when in reality tanks and VTOLS etc have massive ranges (but where is the fun in saying you have an off-board tank with a 2mile range gun lined up against a target).

I am trying out range conversion that takes the range in inches and multiplies it by 1.5(round up) to give you the range in centimeters; i.e. 6inches x 1.5 = 9 centimeters. This allows to have pretty good sized battle on a 2' x 2' playing surface and still maintain the GRUNTZ flavor.
