Can Gruntz (infantry) Assault Flyers (i.e.: Helicopters and other VTOL's, etc.)?

I would say, unless they fly or have Jet packs, or the flyer is landed i'd say no...

Same question, but in regard to Vehicle Specialists which Hover?
In other words, does Hovering equate to Flying?

Not really as they can "fly" over objects but are really ground units so no issue on assault unless there is an obsticle in the way. But if you want to say it's "flying high" then no it can't be assault so just like a flyer but also it can have no cover as its above normal terian and not using NOE! It's your game so play what feels right to you I actually do both and mark the model if it's flying high same with a mech with flight. Hope that helps sir

It does. The main reason that I asked is that I have units that I am trying to decide whether they would be Vehicle Specialists (Hover Drones) or AAV's (Helicopters). The decision is compounded by whether AAV's "require" crew. If they do not, then there is no crew to Bail. As crew who survive bailing from a vehicle can (minimally) be a battlefield asset, is there any point offset for crewed- versus non-crewed-vehicles? Or am I being overly analytical, here?

Yes and no I have two ASV's that that are remotes and like drones have pilots off board / AI and one that is normally piloted (GZG minis). Now like you I looked at what happens when taken out and "pilot bails" I eventually saw it as an AI system and it data dumped all the relevant information back to base to be put in the next remote ASV (Like Battlestar Galaxtica). Otherwise it had no battle experience for the next fight in our campaigne and ended up being green and easy pickings But to answer your question 'yes' in that it doesn't need crew but if there was here's the rules What I would do is make up both types and play with both and see which fits the role better

Thanks for taking the time. I do, indeed, agree with the data dumping; that's actually a great explanation, though would have no real value in a one-off game.
Maybe I missed it; is there a Flying Vehicle Specialist?

No grav is closest as it can obtain 8" of pop up to gain hight. Even though it states a Flying Drone is hover. So could make it that or grav and state it is flying with all benefits and negatives for that particular unit. Sometimes you have to bend the system to get what you want as these are designed for fun and not tournament style of play sometimes anything goes Myself and lot of others have several house rules that we use Baldlea has a list of his on this forum and i use a similar set
