Played this game recently. 6' x 4' table using Dead Zone 2' x 2' mats with drop on terrain from various sources including Sarissa MDF. The green drop ship is a diecast HALO "toy" that was on special. My friend has 3 ! Pre-painted and ready to go. In the game it was just a terrain piece but makes a great objective.
The scenario was taken from the old 40K Battle Missions scenarios book using 350 pt 28mm At-43 Karmans vs UNA (I have uploaded the Karman Cards to the cards section). In the scenario one force (Karmans) were deployed more than 12" from all board edges and at least 6" from each other. The UNA setup anywhere outside this deployment.
We use a few adjustments:
1. ranges x 2 = -2, x 3 = -3 2. AE weapons dimater = radius 3. activation uses a pack of cards (the original AT-43 cards even though we don't use the stats). Shuffled each turn and drawn in turn. Works well for randomised unit activation.
This meant on turn 1 most units were in action ASAP.
By turn 4 the Karmans had been surrounded and soundly beaten by the UNA.
A King Buggy grav vehicle goes up in flames !!!
I really like the gruntz system and customisation for what I have in my collection is great. I now have 3 x 350 pt forces (Karman, UNA & Red Blok) great to play in an evening. If we have more time I can play over 500pts on a large table.
