Hello everybody.
I have a question that has been hovering over our gaming group since we started playing GRUNTZ.
We have organized units based on our favorite Sci-Fi settings. we have an infantry platooon with Mecha support and a mechanized infantry platoon riding hover APC,s, with some specialized vehicles as support. There are also some irregular guerrillas, with civvie vehicles, mechanized infantry with tracked vehicles and some alien forces. A lot of differente forces.
The question is: vehicles are really difficult to destroy. It´s impossible to destroy one with the light RPG,s used by infantry, while in the real world you can loose an IFV from infantry annti-tank weapons, just one lucky shot and the vehicle is finished.
When we play forces with a lot of vehicles, the battle ends with all the infantry dead but almost all the vehicles still fighting.
Has someone figured out a solution to this???

You could try raising the AP value of the anti vehicle weapons, that way they do more damage to vehicles without becoming overpowered infantry killers.

You could also have any AP weapons roll an additional dice for damage against vehicles...

You could also use the old concentrated fire rule instead of the new one which adds +1 to hit and damage with each additional model in a group upto five, Also you may want to say that in a built up area (Ie lots of buildings) use top armour (rear) which is 2 less than front all of these help. I still use the origanal concentrated fire in my games Hope all these replies help and enjoy the game

Thank you for the replies, I will try some of these ideas, mainly doubling the AP factor.

I built the game to avoid the "popping vehicle" type situation, a bit like the health bar in a Command and Conquer type PC game. I must admit though I normally try to keep the forces fair with enough hardware to do some damage. A heavy vehicle is going to take a lot of killing by an infantry only force, unless they have some good support weapons, artillery etc.
Good idea to try the extra AP for RPG etc. I would also consider lowering the size class of vehicles. Still use the same tank/truck etc but make it up as a Small or medium class. I know myself that players like to go for Assault and Heavy when there is nothing to stop you using a main battle tank but agreeing to field it with the profile of a medium or light. That would make a tank vs infantry game a lot fairer.
