Morning all,
Just thought I'd drop a note in to say "Hello!" whilst some of my automated tests run in the background.
I'm Mark, I live a little outside St. Ives in Cambridgeshire. 31, a software tester and someone who has been off-an-on a gamer since I was about 9 (when I played my first game of Heroquest!).
I came across Gruntz a couple of years ago and was impressed but sadly lacked conviction to invest into a new rule set and a new bunch of figures. I've decided now is the time so I have the v1.1 PDF and I'm awaiting a delivery from CMG, Arc Fleet Rifle Platoon, which I'm rather excited about.
My group is made up of a few individuals, most of us come from a Warhammer background which we still play fairly often, we occasionally break out the Warmaster but we hit the point where we're on the look out for new games and escaping the GW-strangle-hold.
So with my group scurrying off to find new games, I thought I'd push 15mm Sci Fi, Gruntz. Knowing how a couple of the group can be slightly hesitant to start a new game (even when we're trying to find new games, don't ask...) I decided the best thing to do was gather both forces for a game. And to make it attractive choose a setting that I can fudge a little with the rules and the figures.
As such, with my friends and I being rather big Mass Effect fans, I decided the best course of action was to pursue that. As such, half of my Arc fleet will become Alliance Marines and the other half, Cerberus Troops. (My actual plan is to keep half of the Arc primed for the Cerberus until the platoon packs of the ZAS become available, the ZAS will then become Cerberus and the remaining Arc becoming Marines as well).
On top of the 'core' armies, I'll look to include some certain one-off Specialists to represent the crew of the Normandy and then branch out to find some more forces to represent the Geth, Collectors, Reapers and merc groups that were the enemies in the games. Just means we can play a big battle or a smaller skirmish type affair where each play takes a Specialist crew member and fight hordes of mooks.
Hopefully I'll be able to start some kind of blog-type-thing-here to track Mass Effect Gruntz style as and when figures reach me.
