So I've seen some stellar examples of profile cards, and I kind of want to make my own. No, I REALLY want to make my own.
How do you do it?
I assume you just modify the official one, using Adobe Acrobat and a pic of whatever you want to add?
I'm really curious.

The official ones are a combination of an Adobe Illustrator design, which is dropped into Adobe Indesign for the text layers. There are several other variations appearing in the Yahoo group where people have uploaded some nice larger cards.

I have made things which look very similar to the official ones (and I will upload them eventually - keep forgetting) using Inkscape. Inkscape is basically a sort of open-source illustraitor clone, and is pretty damnably nifty. Also free. And nifty.

I'm doing mine in Adobe InDesign in much the same way Robin does his I imagine. I've done cards for a number of games I play and I quite enjoy it.

I think I'll do mine in Paint.NET, which is a free graphics program. All I need are recommended card sizes in inches/cm/pixels and I'll do them.
After I print them, I assume I just glue the printout to cardboard and cut out the cards, right?

I print them as a sheet and when finalized I'll laminate them

I print mine on labels and stick them to excess Mana which I have in the thousands.
I like the index card idea and wouldn't mind "re-scaling" to 3.5 " x 5" for some things. I'll have to give that some thought.

Yes, the labels on mana means it's easy to do Card-driven activation and shuffle them for a random draw.
Of course, some cards look better with both sides labelled, so I generally just do the meat of the Card on one label for activation deck and the double label for the playing card. Thus why I am thinking about an Index card which is about twice the size of a M:tG card.
