Hi all! First time poster, long time lurker on these boards. I have recently got GRUNTZ for the purpose of building a version of a unique form of 'future history' modern WWIII scenario I found on the net. It's called "Shattered Citadel", and being Aussie, the fact it talks specifically about how the Pacific fared in the third war of humanity colours me intruiged. As such, here are my first attempts at making variations of the 'Fasco-Islamist' group in the universe, the Holy Islamic Empire. A lot of the forces here are poor levels, I am trying to capture the feel that modern warfare has cheap lives, and even cheaper bullets... The two I have made so far are at opposite ends of the 'Insurgency' spectrum. One is an angry mob, that requires other command teams to be nearby to really push it on if it gets hit, the other one is the commander team level itself. I am actually tempted to NOT use the Commander tab, as it gives the commanders too much power. I think I'll use it for the 'named player' character only, so that the player in the game can have a unit representing themselves on the map! Hope you like the idea!

Thanks for the input comstar. I hope to put up a few cards every day or two. My primary goal at the moment is to work out how to equate the GRUNTZ weapons stats to modern equivalent types. Improvised firearms being untrained civil elements, Projectle Rifles being generic assault rifles - right to such things as Missile Launchers being ATGMs or SAMs (operators getting GEARDO perk) and Plasma weapons being the heavier warhead RPG-29's/ SMAW/ Carl Gustav's etc. Keep watching this space!

Yep that's basically it Sometimes you may need to rename weapons to get the right feal to what you are looking for Keep at it

Okay, I've gone and made some units for the USMC. My only problem being that AFTER I'd gone to the trouble of making the cards, did I remember there was a Weapons Platoon list as well for actual support units! Whoops! ;D
Anyway, before I add them - here is how I've tried to build the modern weapons into GRUNTZ. What do people think?
This is all based off the GRUNTZ tab weapons list.
Improv'd Projectile Rifle/Pistol - UNTRAINED civilian weapons
Projectile Pistol: Pistols, 9mm etc
Laser pistol: Shotguns
Projectile Rifle - 5.56mm/5.45mm Assault rifles Laser Rifle - SLR/AK-47 etc
Plasma weapons - Do we really have anything above 7.62mm used regularly for infantry weapons?
MEDIUM PROJECTILE - Battle Rifles (SVD, M-14 E series etc)
MEDIUM PROJECTILE FA - 5.56mm SAW weapons
MEDIUM PROJECTILE FA + MEDIUM PROJECTILE - 7.62mm MMGs
MEDIUM PROJECTILE FA x2 - Sustained fire MMGs (tripods etc), Miniguns (7.62mm with GEARDO perk)
Laser Weapon - Doesn't really fit as there isn't any real .50 cal AT rifles these days.
Laser Weapon x2 - M2HB and DSHK (.50 cal MGs)
Laser Weapon FA - Multi-HMG, ZPU-1, single barrel 20mm autocannon (explosive shells)
Laser Weapon FA + Laser Weapon - ZPU-2, multi barrel 20mm autocannon up to 23mm ZU-23-2
Laser Weapon FAx2 - ZPU-4, Gatling guns up to GAU-8 etc
Plasma weapon - 25mm autocannon to 30mm autocannon
Plasma weaponx2 - 35mm autocannon +
Grenade Launcher - Underslung GLs, RPG-7 types (basic). Explosive shell weapons infantry nature, up to 66mm. RPG-18/ LAW66 (with rules caveats).
Grenade Launcherx2 - AGLs, infantry carried (i.e M-32 AGL)
Heavy grenade launcher - AT-4 rocket, Carl Gustav/SMAW, RPG-7 advanced warhead versions
HGLx2: Belt fed AGLs (represents that they're more or less 40mm grenade MGs)
Missile launcher: As the name says. Unguided is RPG-29 style weapons, Guided being ATGMs/ SAMs.

Well ask and ye shall receive Ollie!
I'm making cards for each of the following:
Fictional forces:
Holy Islamic Empire - an amalgamation of 'Arabic' states after the 'Arab Springs' take on a more sinister tone when a single ruler, calling himself the New Prophet, overpowers/ bribes/ intimidates most of the Arabic world.
African Junta: A mish-mash of African forces, supported primarily by the HIE.
Latin states: Mix between supporting coalition and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Fictional (based on 'Real World') forces:
European Union - A mish-mash of forces, some ex-Eastern Bloc, some actual European. The forces are able to be cross connected without penalty, but are only allies to 'Coalition partners' as they do not have the same access to info or unit cohesion.
Primary force cards will be for French and German, as well as Eastern European ex-WARPAC nations. 'Allied' with the Western Coalition in most ways.
Western Coalition: English speaking nations in alliance today - US, Canada, Australia, England and New Zealand.
India, South Africa, Taiwan and Israel, ASEAN nations: Forces who have quasi-alliances with Western Coalition, European Union, and between themselves, but more or less lone Wolves due to distance/politics, or the ground situation itself.
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation: As the real world equivalents, Russia and China are the main contributors. North Korea is a proxy member, as is some major Latin American supporters.
Mercenaries: Groups of people, from professional mercenaries fighting to protect their corporate master's holdings, to outright criminals who'll work for anyone for the right price (and if they're willing to look over past discrepancies).

Okay, Took a LOT of faffing about trying to get this right. However, I think I have it now! Introducing a few British Cards! Making fireteams is exceptionally problematic considering the requirements of the system meaning you cannot have 'upgrade cards' as all cards must have at least four unit hit boxes. Which can be problematic! British Section Command - It should really say a MAX of 6, but I think having that much firepower with three groups should keep even the wildest mob thinking twice about getting too close. British Fireteam British Gurkha Fireteam - I wanted to emphasise the fact these men are renowned for the martial prowess as much as the power of their fighting knives. I hope I covered it adequately!

OOOOOoooooh you made me smile Thanks for the Gurkhas ;D I like the ideas and the setting seems realy cool, i read 'Dawn of the tiger' by Gus Frazer a few weeks back on hte kindle and loved the near future pacific focus about the book. If you havn't read it do because it's all hapening in Australia. What is the tech level in shatered citadel is it like nows tech or in 30-50 years? I'll be following all this with interest. Ollie
