I'm not familiar with the Heavy Gear universe, asides for the minis being quite expensive, but I've browsed the site a few times. I was thinking of picking up a few to use as vehicle specialist units or small mechs. That said, are there any models in particular that you guys recommend? I know nothing about all the factions; Northern, Southern and what-have-you, but it seems like the different varieties of mechs overlap between them.

Keep in mind that Heavy Gear minis are 1:144, or 12mm, so they will be a bit small compared to 15mm (1:100). It probably doesn't matter for mechs, since they vary in size a lot anyway.

Yeah, the mechs are what I'm interested in. The alligator-like alien looks 15mm, so compared to the Heavy Gear mechs, they look like they could work fine. Medium and heavy vehicle specs with jump packs... awesome. I'll probably try out the type on the left. What do you think? Heavy-Assault vehicle specialist or a scout-sized mech?

That's a Garn from Khurasan Miniatures... it's a bit taller than a normal 15mm figure (big alien). But yes, the HG would work I would probably go as a specialist... except that big one on the left, that would probably be a scout size mech.

You might wish to keep an eye out for the older RAFM Heavy Gear minis on eBay. They were 1/87 (ish) scale and much bigger than the 1/144th ones. They stand about 2" to 2 1/2" tall. I've already started stating some up on Gruntomatic.

I picked up some a while back for dual use in HG and Gruntz. The gears will certainly work as small scout mecha, or large power armor for the smaller Gear types.

I think a scout or even medium mech. Or you could use smaller ones as the largest class of Specialist.
What particular models are those in the picture. I don't find it that easy to find what I am looking for on the HG website and those two are very smart.

You can find them in a set together called the Southern Fire Support Cadre. Spitting Cobras and Jagers.
