Can you give an example of how to apply 2d6 damage to a unit taking an attrition roll? Is a roll made per unit in a force, or are the points of damage applied to all units?
Can your 240 point force be split into multiple armies?

No you can't split your force. If your army is not near you have to rely on the defences to hold out.
As for an example; a player attacks a node and the defender chooses to rely on the defences. In the battle phase the attacker rolls a d6, needing 5+. The attacker rolls a 4, so the attack fails. The attacker now suffers attrition. The attacker rolls a d6 for each unit in his army. On rolls of 1 the unit takes damage. He rolls a 1 for a Gruntz squad and his medium tank, they now suffer 2d6 damage. For the Gruntz he rolls a 8, wiping out the 6man squad. For the tank he rolls 5, so the tank has 5 damage points removed on its stat card. So in the attack the player takes damage on his tank and loses a Gruntz squad. The attacker now decides to maintain the attack so next turn he will require a 4+.
I hope that helps. Its a simple system, that doesn't remove players so it's ideal for a quick fun and easy to play.

Groovy. Very much appreciate the clarification and the example.
It is a simple system -elegant even- and well written too. I tip my hat to you.

A very nice adaptation of Phil Barkers DBA (De Bellis Antiquitatis) campaign system published in his rules. But you should give him a nod before using his work. I am not trying to be picky but Phil is getting quite prickly about people using his stuff without giving him a credit. He is ok about people using his stuff, he just likes the users to know where it originated from. Check out the Yahoo group for more info.

I remember now seeing something like that in my Hordes of the Things rules. Is it exactly the same?

It's based on the dba system. I have re done for pretty much every game we play at our club (wfb, lotrsb and 40k). No offense to the venerable Barker, just playing some games.
Cheers dpuk1 for the push.

Note on criticals, they are repaired between games.
Have also missed allied arrivals. It will be a skill check but I'll try and update.
Our club starts its campaign shortly so should have a report or two.

To answer Robins question, the main concept, structure etc are all from DBA and Hordes of the Things written by Phil Barker, Sue Laflin Barker and Richard Bodley Scott who are all from the Wargames Research Group. They were first published in 1992 and as far as I am aware are still under copyright. Richard has left the partnership and has gone on to Publish Field of Glory Ancients with Slitherine and Osprey.
As I said in the previous post Phil doesn't normally mind if people use his concepts and ideas as long as they credit him. Phil has considered legal action in the past when a group of american players were going to publish a version of DBA 2.2 with their own amendments.
Celtofkernow,I know you don't mean any offence and you don't intend to publish your version, but could you please put an acknowledgement to Phil in your PDF.
Thanks
