How would infantry skimmers like those used by Hammer's Slammers be best handled in Gruntz?
Cost them as a "one transport slot" unarmed APC/Ground Support Vehicle, perhaps?
Building as a whole squad of vehicle specialists would result in a ludicrous points total. And the Slammer's skimmers weren't armed - they were just a transport for standard infantry. The modern/future equivalent of dragoons.

What i have done in the past is make a normal squad of Gruntz and then buy a suitable transport for them (ie light transport with enough carrying capacity) and use those stats for the skimmers (or when infantry is mounted on them) and divide the damage boxes up to how many are in squad and round up. So when mounted they would be the skimmers damage boxes plus one for a normal grunt. When dismounted use normal infantry stats I also only allowed them to fire dismounted. Hope that wasn't to confusing

Thanks, Matt. That's pretty much what I was thinking. I hadn't thought ahead to calculating the damage boxes though.
What do you do if the squad takes damage while mounted? Take hits on the transport plus a grunt, and then the next transport plus a grunt?
Completely agree about only firing when dismounted - Slammer's skimmers are definitely not speeder bikes.

I do each skimmer completely Ie it's damage plus one for the rider then onto the next for combined fire or several shots from a squad. If it's a big gun then it just takes out the one guy on his skimmer as it would do in normal squad. Hope that helps
