I don't really like either places to be honest, constructive criticism is one thing being rude is another. If you don't like something fine say why or don't bother.
If it was a heated debate in person I could perhaps understand some of things said but as it is typed and someone has deliberately chosen to type some of those words I think its pathetic.
I bet if you met those people in real life they wouldn't say boo to a goose. Probably because they'd get a poke in the eye.

It's all about having good Mods to slay the trolls, and some well defined rules as to what is acceptable and what is not. I was a Mod for Miniwargaming.com for quite awhile (still am technically). Between dealing with trolls we come across ourselves and the forum allowing users to flag offending posts we kept that kind of electronic excrement to a minimum. The community effectively policed itself such that we just had to drop in, purge the offending text and point the offender to the posting rules. Three strikes and you're banned.
For a bigger site, having enough Mods and Admins to ride herd isn't as easy though.

I agree it needs people working on it. I still see people on TMP with 800+ stifles. Clearly time to give them a proper boot.
