That's quite a nice much. Does it have a different back if you choose not to use the jump jets?

Yes. It can be left naked, or use a variety of backpacks.
The Blackguard, the fire support mecha, uses a backpack originally designed for the Ygs mecha. It has no jets, just two hard points for mounting weapons or accessories.
Best, JBR

I need to remember to get out to your blog more often JBR. I'm frothing over the mech you were working on for CMG back in May...

I need to remember to get out to your blog more often JBR. I'm frothing over the mech you were working on for CMG back in May... I'm honored. The nice thing about that new Merc mech is that most parts will interchange with the Zas Ravager and Blackguard platforms. There will also be some parts interchange between the Volos Snakemech, the Ygs mech, and others in the pipeline. Best, JBR
