I think a ball tank would be interesting in a sci-fi setting. Some sort of gyro stabilised vehicle with side mounted weapons, fast and built for 1 pilot would be interesting. Not like the open Star Wars ones but a little more chunky.

Robin, when you have a good idea... Looks like I have some sculpting to do.

Kinda along the lines I'm sketching right now, I'm looking at something a bit more cyberpunk in my own design.

Look forward to seeing it. A mate of mine uses two of the RAFM ones as scout vehicles but has converted them a fair bit and they now look much better.

I'll probably have it in my Cthulhu Army Blog when it goes live (ie: I have the models ready to paint). if the sculpt goes well I'm going to talk to a friend about casting it. So we'll see what happens.

Here is one of the crude pictures I'm leaning towards. I'm liking the deep blade type traction, and the weapon hard points and mechanism locations. Still trying to figure out what kind of weapons would fit this kind of vehicle. I'm thinking most likely projection type weapons (Flame/plasma) and beam as ballistic weapons would cause it to roll unstably (at least from the main weapon hard point in the center) The side hard points could sport some kind of re-enforced turret that could possibly be ballistics, but also rockets. Like I said, still developing the sketch before I jump into sculpt.
