But even these petty squabbles and skirmishes over territory will mean nothing when Great Cthulhu awakens and turns his gaze skyward once more. The stars themselves will tremble with the coming of the Risen One, and men and xeno alike will be consumed by their new, ever hungry, tyrant lord.

Well these pics are long over due, but I had an event to do Let start from the bottom up... Deep DwellersThese are the majority of the army topping in at either two packs of 10 or four packs of 6, (ie:20-24 on the table). They are built around speed and close combat, and though very fast, are relatively soft targets, making swarm and ambush tactics their preferred modus operandi. Hunting HorrorsNot very durable, but incredibly lethal. These autonomous creatures float around the battlefield wanting only to feed by dominating the will of others. First, they control the mind of an enemy unit, forcing them to defend the Horror, then the beast devours their very souls. Cultists, Ascending Cultists, Chosen of the Old Ones Cultists: Armed with black market laser rifles, Cultists perform arcane rituals at the behest of their leader, and form the only long ranged unit in the army. Though small in number, their slowly mutating bodies heal quickly and their aim is second to none. Ascending Cultists: Cultists who have seen more, know more, and are far less sane than their gibbering brethren. They carry eldrich staffs that rend flesh with a mystic vortex. Their job is to protect the Chosen, or to assist other units with mid-range dominance. The Chosen of the Old Ones: Insane and mutated beyond humanity, he controls the very nature of the void and is bless with arcane magics. He can shoot a lance of arcane energy across the field with extreme accuracy, or lob fireballs at nearby foes. Tyrant Lord Cthulhu, The Emerald Dawn, The Flayer of Minds, The Astral Dominator As Lord Cthulhu consumes his chosen, his power grows. While in one instance, he may be a mid-range destruction machine, the next he could be a field suppressing dominator of worlds. His power is unmatched, and his hunger ever growing. (Model Note: As of current, I decided last minute to try some glow effects around the eyes. I hate it. I also want to find "THE" pair of wings for him. Until then he is the only model without a semi-gloss coat.)
The idea behind my force creation was to have a ton of close combat, some solid medium range, and maybe a squad of long range. Very "up in your face" heavy. The game plan is pretty simple: Use H.Horrors (specialists that could as bikes) to gain control of enemies Telepathy, yes it's a once and done bit but it's really amazing how wonderful it can be utilized. With those units moved, or killed I open up passage ways for my Deep Dwellers to gain effective ambush positions. Cultists form a clean-up crew, shooting long range to pick off enemy stragglers or specialists. My Ascending protect the chosen while the chosen targets enemy leaders. All the while, Great Cthulhu stomps about the field crushing, and psychically rending anything that I deem too dangerous, or too easy.
