I think i am missing something...
On page 23, "indirect fire needs to have a friendly squad member able to spot for them, spotting is automatic." But no mention on range.
On page 37, "To hit a target that is not in LOS, you must have a friendly ground or air unit that was able to spot the target during their activation. Spotting requires and action and the spotting unit requires a clear LOS to any location on the target. it must also be within 20" of the target unit to spot it".
On page 84, Perkz "Light them Up", "Paint a target within 12". All friendly units get +1 to ranged attacks against the painted unit, and in-direct artillery can target painted models that are out of LOS."
So, if a member of the artillery can see the target, they can fire at it with no problem.
Where I am a little foggy is when another unit does the spotting. Do they need the "Light them Up" perkz, and is the range 12" or 20"?
Thanks!

I.e. double normal range and not in side minimum half normal range. Normal spotting is done automatically within 20" but requires one action and allows target to be shot at indirectly. Light them up is a perk and gives all the above but with a bonus to hit but a shorter range of 12". Hope that helps sir Cheers Matt

Also to clarify, on pg 23 it is specifically saying spotting is free for your own unit. AKA if one of your rifleman in a gruntz unit can see the target and is within 20" then your Squad Attachment Grenade Launcher (for instance) of the SAME gruntz unit would be able to fire indirectly at them but no extra action for spotting is used and your spotting rifleman can go on with his day moving and shooting as normal.
