Gopher: "Hi I'm Gopher and I'm Possessed."
Everyone: "Hi Gopher"
Well now that we have that out of the way I have to ask. Have you ever had an idea for a game? I myself get them all the time. The're usually not very practical and the ideas themselves usually die stillborn on the vine of fancy. But for the past week I have been possessed with an idea that has been haunting me off and on for a while. But what makes this time different is the idea not only managed to pick up a pen and scratch some notes on a piece of paper it then possessed the other hand and started typing on the Keyboard. To make matters worse it overcame my common sense and started ordering miniatures off E-bay. Now I'm sitting here with the strangest feeling that I might have actually not only thought up a game...but made one.
You see I'm a fan of Samurai. I love the Legend of the Five Rings RPG, I also happen to have read the actually book of the five rings by Mushashi. Then there is a small list of samurai movies I love and well you get the idea. But my problem was when it came to Samurai games most of them are nothing but basic war games with little sense of "Samurai". I mean that epic feeling of a warrior larger than life who stands against a dozen men demanding an apology for some slight to his samurai pride. That scene of a lone ronin fighting off bandits in the wood cutting them down one by one. Add to that a touch of magic and all the other elements of good Samurai drama that might not be exactly realistic. But then again we don't love King Author, Robin Hood, or Elliot Ness because they were real. So I needed my own game, but the game was suppose to scratch a creative itch. It wasn't suppose to you know... actually work. But I think it does, oh sure I need some considerable playtesting but the core idea and rules look sound. (speaking as someone who's played such games for years).
But now I'm left with this weird feeling that I actually do have something worthwhile and a lingering question of... What now?
