Here is my current project: From my blog: clearhorizonsalvage.blogspot.com/I've had Gruntz since it first came out, and I've been playing around with the Barracks Beta. I finally took another good look at Gruntz and I am really excited, since it really allows everything that I want to do with my Sci-Fi game. My buddy is building up his own forces and I hope to start running some urban games soon.

And the cards so far: I wasn't quite sure which weapons to go with on the combat car. I probably would have put it at light instead of medium, if I didn't have to get the three weapons on there. What do you think?

Stunning terrain and models. Really like the GZG models being used in this way and the open top weapons are great.
I might have sized the hover car as a light but just as personal preference for something that is combat car class. The three plasma are going to really punch hard.

I would of rather had it as light too... I wanted something that was a little fragile, but if it caught you first, KABAMMO!
Do you have any suggestions on how to represent the vehicle as light, but with those three weapons, or something close?

Yes, they did, but I guess they discovered it was a little to close to a Halo VTOL, so he's having it re-worked...I wish I had gotten more!

2 mrharold May I have a suggestion about your amazing units? As far as I can tell from Combat Car photo in most of the situations it can bring 1 or 2 guns to bear, bacause of limited guns rotation radius. So if you want realistical games, maybe it will be good to write something like "180 degree arc" after "Spec Gatling"? Also I see that your Security forces have shoot of 7. Tough guys Most of regular troops have Shoot of 5, so your Security are really elite warriors. What idea of Soak/Armor do you use? I use this: 10 None. Gruntz with no armour or very light protective equipment such as helmets or padding but lacking effective chest armour. 11 Scouts. Gruntz equipped with very small quantities of light sci-fi armour or troops equipped with the equivalent of early 21st century body armour. 12 Light. Troops with standard sci-fi armour which is in greater quantity than scout level but not in sufficient quantity to count as full body sci-fi armour. 13 Medium. Troops with full body sci-fi armour but not as heavy as armour used by some of their contemporaries. 14 Heavy. Troops with heavier full body sci-fi power armour. 15 Assault. Exceptional armour with the highest possible ability to absorb damage. gruntz15.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=profiles&action=display&thread=380&page=1So in my gaming world these Security forcew may have Soak of 12 because they armor is good but it does not protect all parts of the body, like GZG New Izraeli, but this is just my gaming universe and each gamer may have different opinion.

great suggestions! I actually wasn't set on the armor level... I did want then to be top of the line shots though in terms of the weapons each one will only have a limited arc based on where they are!

They are based on the Slammers so elite status and in the setting there armour is nearly the best you can get I think it works well for them

That is really fantastic. It would be nice if it as 28mm, it's amazing at 15mm.
[edit] I especially love the two guys sitting on the ledge of the flier. That is awesome and makes me think of Vietnam style patrols in the near future. Brilliant. [/edit]

Thank you! I think I might end up reducing the skill level just by one, or maybe even two... After mulling it over a bit, (and reading more Hammer's Slammers stories) the troops are defiantly veterans, and very skilled. But the reason they win most of the time is because they are well organized, tactical, and have the best equipment. Not necessarily are the best shots in the world. And I think it's more fun to miss sometimes So, here is a new squad... thoughts always welcome! And the combat car:

Hey man i just wanted too say my view on your unit stats, dont take it as a bring you down and such this game system is all about what you want too make, but i just feel some of your stats might be abit off with the models repersenting them. for security forces, their abit too good at things i would say man, their soak also is at the level of 13? i view things that have a soak of 13 too have to be equal too the new isrealies in armour, also the protholene guys i would say their basic infantry are at a 13 armour. Your guys i think should be at 12 for soak i would say just by looking at the models . so these guys also have a mental of 7? their a security force that has had for humans anyhow have had tons of combat expereince? also guard i think should be one more down, 12 seems to be more on the level of human special forces and even then humans should really struggle too reach that reaction time level i feel. The shoot i would understand if they were perfessonal or elite soldiers, but as a security team wouldnt they be a little bit lower, like milita? the assualt i would say is abit too high, that level i feel is more for races that are adept in close combat, that have natural claws and fangs or are just really brutal. The Basic close combat stats confuse me abit too so they are carrying swords and such? should it be the one lower too repersent maybe a knife or something like that? thats just my input man i am not saying you cant do this, but i am just saying from the feeling of the game, it would feel abit weird fighting your force whom are just considerd a security / milita skilled army. thats my view anyhow take it as you will !

Hi underfire987... no offense taken! I appreciate your input. As for my troops, while they are called "security forces" they are, in my mind anyways, actually a top notch mercenary company. Very similar to Hammer's Slammers (if you've read those books)... but top notch, top equipment troops. The ClearHorizon forces are hired out and specialize in urban warfare. I see your point about guard and soak... still trying to figure out the proper level for them I'm going to make their guard average... and the soak light... since that seems to make more sense. In terms of assault, I think seasoned is more appropriate. Since they are supposed to represent urban combat specialists, I think that would entail more experience and training in close combat. Same with the mental stat, since these guys do represent vets of countless campaigns... Somehow I missed the "small" CCW... and thought basic represented knives and such... I've attached the revised cards, one squad with SAW and GL and the other with just a GL... what do you think? Thanks for the input! Harold Attachments:
