Thank you guys. I've started art college, so I sadly don't have much time for my minis anymore. There's always homework, hanging out with friends, and personal art that all comes first before these guys now . We'll see how this school semester goes, October is always a busy month for me (we have a big halloween display, and we always add new things, so my time is mostly devoted to that), but afterwards I might have some time to get some painting done. I'll try and write myself a reminder to at least take some pictures of my Warriors. They have a bit more work done to them, it's not much, but progress is progress.

Congrats! What's your study of choice? I graduated from the Art Institute a year ago for graphic design.

Congrats! What's your study of choice? I graduated from the Art Institute a year ago for graphic design. Right now I'm just taking a First Year, so I haven't chosen a major yet, but I'm leaning towards Character Design/Illustration. We'll see though, I mainly want to get into comics, and the college I've chosen isn't the best for that. Sorry for the delay on those pictures! I don't want to go into to much detail, but three big events dropped into my lap, two of them involved serious, or potentially serious harm to friends and family, which of course pulled me away from the forum, the other is a sudden, large homework assignment that I have about 12 more hours of work to put into, and I only have one day to finish it. And also, as I said, Halloween is a big deal for me and my family, so I may not get those pictures taken until November! Sorry . I do have a bit of good news though, things are settling down a bit more for me, and I think after October I'll be able to dedicate at least 15 minutes each night to working on my minis. We'll see how it goes, but thank you to those who are still interested in seeing my army progress, even with the hiatus and these delays!

(EDIT: I apologize for the huge size of the images! But I can't resize them tonight. I'll do my best to do it tomorrow before class, so please bear with them for now!) Wow, it's hard to imagine that this whole section of the forum hasn't seen a new post since the last one I made before Halloween! Things must be slow. Which is a pity because I love seeing the work other people do. As promised, I took a couple pictures of my minimal progress. Sadly, college has only gotten crazier, and I wouldn't be surprised if they just keep doubling the workload and halving the deadlines until the end of the semester. Basically this means I'll be lucky if I can find 5-15 minutes to paint every 3 days or so. However, in light of having to set up super fast to get the most out of the tiny time I have to paint, I've placed my current batch of minis on a simple fast food tray along with the paints and brushes that I'm using on them at the moment. This allows me to pretty much grab the tray off a shelf and put it back when I'm done. Here's a picture of my set up, and of my models. Sorry for the colour of the tray, and further apologies for not having close ups of the models. I honestly didn't feel there was much worth showing in detail since the first volley of pictures. That, and I only had a couple minutes to take these shots. Right now I'm applying a layer of GW's old Tin Bitz paint, so you can't really tell it from the black in the picture, it's even hard to tell up close, but the layer adds a good shadow to the later layers of gold. And since i don't have any other recent images to show you, here's one I took months back when a friend of mine sent me a large, delayed birthday gift: I know some people here probably hate GW models, but it's hard to turn down free models! ;D It's hard, also, to tell a college girl her Gruntz army needs to consist of only 15mm models when she's got a decent number of models already that could fit the bill. Anyways, I'm ranting! I'm hoping to eventually incorporate the Gargoyles and the Tyrant into my Gruntz army. In fact, I'd really like to create some sort of "winged transport" for my models, or somehow make winged troops. It's sure give me an excuse to buy that Khurasan Space Demon Dragon too!

Winged transport would be excellent. It lines up with the the ideas about doing a Zergling style Starcraft force.

I can't help but feel like I'm lacking in the "big guns" section... My opponent feels these should be artillery pieces. That would seem to make sense, but I can't help but wonder if making them Tanks might give them more utility? Also, I'm not sure if I should give them two different profiles, or the same. Just thinking this through a little. The idea of a tank vs mobile artillery (apart from indirect/direct fire), is the idea that the weapon is fixed, rather than being able to spin round on a Tank turret. So looking at those models, they do look like fixed cannons. However, given that they are organic, you could consider the fact that the beast could swing around relatively easily to fire in a different direction like a Tank could swinging its turret. I still think that I would build them as lumbering artillery units, slowly moving up the field on their massive legs to then stop and aim up the artillery mounted on their backs. It feels right from a visual perspective. Robin

I've shrunken the images in photoshop, so I hope that aids people in looking at them. I can't help but feel like I'm lacking in the "big guns" section... It feels right from a visual perspective. Robin That's a very good point. Honestly, I keep switching between whether they should be tanks of artillery, I think it could be argued either way. They could be seen as big, slow, lumbering giants, but it could also be argued that they might be more nimble and reactive on their feet than a tank. Elephants can move pretty fast, so it could be possible either way. I'm not quite set on how I want them to act. I do tend to imagine them slowly lumbering up the field. it's been a while since I looked through the rulebook, but I remember that there was something about artillery versus tanks that made me side more with tanks, just when it came to pure game mechanics... but I don't remember what. Oh, there is one thing I wanted to ask everyone. As you see in my picture, I got a box of gargoyles. But I'm not sure how I should stat them. I was thinking of either statting them as flying specialists (or "jump specialists") or an actual flying vehicle (VTOL's?) I'm not really sure what to give them, or what role they should have, they seem lightly armored with 2 weapons (one in their mouth and the other carried). I could maybe see their tail counting as some sort of power claw attack too. What are your thoughts?

I think specialists then group them in units of five Makes them a lot more manageable on the field Give them a standard gun, a flamer and claw as well That should give them a little punch but points will be high! Hope that helps
