While waiting for my order from blue moon to arrive I've been making some more terrain. First up, 2 more buildings for my spaceport, a habitat and a bio-fuel processing plant Some small cargo containers And finally some alien trees

The cargo containers were made from flexible cable conduit hose ,just count the number of rings you want and slice off with a hobby knife, stick some cereal box cardboard on top et voila. If you know anybody who works on a construction site they usually have several leftovers lying around which they will let you have for free.

Decided to try my hand at some classic drinking straw fly-trap plants today With some figures for scale Overall I'm quite pleased with how they turned out, I'll probably make about 10 of these and then I'll have to find something to fill the gap between these and my alien trees.

How do you get that effect on the straws? I like those a lot, by the way.

I prefer to use a tea light candle as it keeps both my hands free and doesn't overheat in my hand. But I would still advise caution tough.

After seeing Tokoloshe's excellent CD based shanties I decided I simply had to do the same to my buildings. Most were a bit too big for one CD though. Oh well, not to worry as I have a whole spindle of data Cd's which I'll never use for anything else anyway. ;D I also decided to try dirtying one of the longer buildings up to get a more weathered or rundown effect. please let me know what you think.

Just a quickie, a small fallow field and some tank traps.

I like those cd bases a lot. I'm torn over the weathered buildings. I like the weathering, but I also like the clean retro look of your un-weathered buildings. Either way, I love your terrain. I am most definitely stealing your electrical conduit storage containers idea.

So I recently "rescued" a completely crumpled and torn up GW grass gaming mat from the dumpster at my local game store and decided to see if I could use it to build a board for myself. I wanted to make something with a more or less Icelandic summer feel to it, that is to say, patches of really green grass interspersed by dark sand and rocks. Here's my first tile so far. I was thinking maybe one more dry brush with sienna and I might try and feather out the edges of the grassy patches with some static grass.what do you think?
