Finally I get around to painting some 15mm stuff! A fellow Hackney Area Tabletop Enthusiast has challenged me to a 200pt game, fully painted. Brush in hand off I go to paint 200pts of Crusties with Mecha support. Turns out could have saved a fair amount of time if only I'd written the list first. "200pts" nearly finished....... Um actually nearer 500pts now I've checked the actual cost! Still shall have them finished this weekend & shall get some better shots of them in day-light. Then TO BATTLE!! FOR CAT-FOOD!!!!! As an aside instead of painted unit markings I am thinking of using scented oils to give each unit a distinct smell, they are after all alien.

Really Nice Force. for myself I don't understand why 200 & 300 points are the norm for Gruntz. If I was Going to play forces that small I'd of done 28mm. In 15mm I like playing Larger Games, but to each their own. Nice to see a force that looks to be using a more realistic organization.

Cheers! ;D
I'm sure we'll be up to 500pts in no time. But this'll be our first real game so we are keeping it small till we get the rules sorted out.
Also worth noting that if I want to play 28mm I play 40k.

Excellent, really like the broad mix of sizes for the mecha, starting with the GZG ones and ranging up to what looks like a mechwarrior clik type one.

If I was Going to play forces that small I'd of done 28mm. 15mm keeps vehicles and terrain affordable, easier to buy, and easier to store. (For my eye, it also keeps the scale visually much better. Something massive and looming in 15 really feels that way. Always seems somewhat truncated in 28s.)

I agree with the points you make, but I play 15mm so I can do large Tactical engagements using fully integrated combined arms forces at the Platoon & Company level or Above. My average force is between 50 & 125 infantry, Multiple Gruntz & Vehicle Specialist + between 12 & 30 vehicles depending on the Faction. My point about 28mm was 2 fold 1 is the above point the other follows. I have found in the area I live most of the gamers in the area do 28mm. I have a small group I game with including My wife & a couple of other Friends I am teaching to game & I purchased all the Forces we need to game. Even owning all the forces I have had a hard time finding new gamers to game with.

Dan, I love what you have done for those Crusties. That force really looks the business.
@tim, You can lead horses, but making them drink is another thing.
I lay a nice looking table full of 15mm sci-fi eye candy. But everyone I know wants to play WWII at them moment. Fortunately a few wise and wonderful folk I know DO enjoy playing Gruntz, so I get a game in from time to time.
Release of the Barracks (and the availability of the amazing Grunt'omatic) will continue to be a big part of Gruntz! potential strength. Especially as we move inevitably to tablet and other portable formats that support our games.

Doh! I fell for that one as well Nothing like putting together what you think will be a well balanced force only to find your about 300-400pts over. Great looking force though!!!

@ Runecaster - It was a collectable game by Wizkidz based in the battle tech universe. The Mechs can mostly get away with being used in 15mm but the vehicles & infantry have more issues with scale & generally are more 10mm: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MechWarrior:_Dark_Age

Figured it was Dark Age. Just haven't seen those guys before. I've been trying to find a retailer of the mini's for a bit now. The few places I've been referred to have them for a pretty hefty price to where I could get something I like from Reaper for a fraction the cost.
